Industrial Highway - Chester, PA - December, 2006

I went up to Norwood, PA (South Philly suburb) to visit my dear pal AJ and his sainted mother Emily, who understand my bizzare fascination with old, rotting gunk. It was his suggestion we visit Chester, specifically "down 291" otherwise known as Industrial Highway.

Mean, MEAN streets der hon. I went around a corner, saw what was on the next block, noticed I WAS NOTICED and that I had a big damn ol' camera in my hand. I walked swiftly, yet decidedly, calmly and with grace, vim and vigor back to the SUV, and said to AJ, "Girl, get IN. Get IN NOW!"

Definitely not a Philly suburb of welcoming arms, Chester did allow me to document the ultimate fate of what were no doubt FINE townhomes in the late 1890's/early 1900's.

The one unanswered question I have about them -- Who steals friggin bricks?
